About Acorn Apothecary

Acorn Apothecary is an urban gardening and herbal medicine project tended by herbcrafter & artist Markie Schmidt and supported by friends & community. We first starting showing up at farmers' markets & craft faires in 2021, from Maine to New Orleans to the Midwest, offering our natural products from a little green bus named Acorn. Today, our passion's still connecting people to plants in-person, yet want to make our high-quality herbal medicine available to friends across the country via this little online marketplace.

The medicine we offer is full of intention & inspiration. We grow and forage most of the herbs in our products ourselves, and get everything else from local & trusted sources. Welcome, and reach out if we can help guide you towards what you need!

Herbal Education

Before Acorn Apothecary sprouted, Markie started her herbal journey studying & apprenticing with bioregional herbalist Linda Conroy of Moonwise Herbs in the Wise Woman Herbal Tradition from 2018-2021, and has continued to be steeped in herbal wisdom the past 4 years as part of the coordinating team for the Midwest Women's Herbal Conference & Mycelium Mysteries Mushroom Conference. Markie has also spent quality time learning with the gardeners & herbalists of SpeakEasy Farm in New Orleans, the wise & whimsical folk at The Woodland Realm in Des Moines, and is now grateful to be learning & working with Tippecanoe Herbs, a renowned community apothecary in Milwaukee, WI. Herbalists Susun Weed and Robin Rose Bennett are also important guides in forming Acorn Apothecary's herbal offerings and philosophy. Markie is deeply grateful for all the teachers in her life, including the plants themselves who meet us where we are and reveal the magic, sense of home, nourishment, and possibility available to us in each moment.
